ALLERGISTS: Ionic Breeze vs. Hepa Filter :please read question?

All of my family suffers with allergies, I have heard a lot of good things about the Ionic Breese. Recently someone told me that buying that is a waste of money and the Hepa Filter air purifier is better but they did not say why- before I purchase one,
My dad bought us a Air Purifer from Oreck and it has been a dream. They told us that the Ionic Breeze is not what they claim to be. I believe them because from experience we have had not trouble with the Oreck. Also my Dad has Asthama and he says that

They are the best at what they do for the money which is about half of what you'd pay for an IQ-Air unit. Of course I did have the carpets shampooed also.
